Article, Pawnee Chief, November 27, 1969: Glencoe Family of the M= -
R. W. Stokes. Lottie born in Washington, IN; Mother died when she= 2
1/2. Went to live with her grandparents. Father remarried when s= was 5
and she moved to the farm with him near Plainsville, IN. At 13, t=
family moved to Mountain View, MO, where she attended chruch and Center
Hill School. Married Robert W. Stokes on November 23, 1911 at the=
Courthouse in West Plaines, MO. The couple lived there until May = 1912
when the entire family moved to Oklahoma. Lived with his parents until
December when they rented a farm near Bethel. Bought their own fa= in
1924 northeast of Glencoe, the "Abe Cobb" place. Retired from the= farm in
1958 and moved into Glencoe. The couple had six children.
