Article, Pawnee Chief, November 27, 1969: Glencoe Family of the M= -
R. W. Stokes. Robert W. born in Mountain View, Missour and attend=
Center Hill School. Received an eighth grade education which was = far
as they could go. Worked on the farm and made telephone poles for = cents
a day. Saved his money and bought a buggy. Married Lottie Webber=
November 23, 1911 at the courhouse in West Plaines, MO. The coupl= lived
there until May 5, 1912 when the entire family moved to Oklahoma. Lived
with his parents until December when they rented a farm near Bethe=
Bought a farm in 1924 northeast of Glencoe, the "Abe Cobb" place. Retired
from the farm in 1958 and moved to Glencoe. The couple had six children.
